    Say No To H20!

Say No to H20!  No, I’m not calling for a moratorium on bathing.  On the contrary, rub-a-dub-dub.  Instead, I’m proclaiming that RVs and water do not mix, sort of like oil and vinegar or crazy uncle Larry with his bottle of rum at Christmas time.  It’s just not a good idea! Being the good husband and new RVer, I am attempting to become a handyman extraordinaire.  OK.  A handyman ‘ordinaire’ is more like it or perhaps simply a handyman-in-perpetual-training.  I think my grandmother used to call that a jack of all trades but master of none.  Needless to say, I’m working my way up the pay grade. We’ve had roof…

    A Fifth Wheel. Why?

The decision was made. We were going to downsize from our 2400 sq. ft. home and move into an RV. Wait, what?! When? With what money? How many different types of RV’s are there again? Oh, the pressure! We had to make the best decision we could, with the little knowledge that we had about something that could potentially change our lives. No big deal! We had to really weigh our wants vs. needs, and with that went my dream of owning an Airstream. For now, at least!  First on the list of “needs” were our jobs. At the time of our search, we had remote jobs that required separation…

Safety Recall – RV Fire Extinguisher

A few years ago, my aunt’s house caught fire. It was an electric blanket that sparked in the middle of the night. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The devastation, however, left countless scars. Emotional distress. Thousands of dollars in repairs. A family displaced due to inhabitable surroundings. Their saving grace? A fire extinguisher, and of course a quick call to 911. I can’t imagine how much worse it would have been had they not been prepared. Just think for a moment of how a fire could ravage some RV. Full time travelers have their entire world with them, and everything could be gone in one disastrous instant. It’s important to…

Every year the Florida State Fairgrounds hosts the Florida RV Super Show, the largest RV show in the country. Some call it the Super Bowl of RV shows. And, if you’re a football fan, you can relate to the excitement of game day, except ours is commercial free and lasts for 5 days instead of 4 hours. We were ecstatic to be attending this years show! There is so much to see! They have acres of RVs: Aliner campers, Class A, B and Cs, vans, fifth wheels, toy haulers, travel trailers, etc. There was even a camper trailer for a motorcycle. These rigs, of course, come with their various floor plan,…

We love visiting our National Parks. Their beauty is truly unparalleled. Each one of them offer something different. From desert days at Death Valley to ice, glaciers and the tundra in St. Elias. They all have their unique enchantment. We have a special place for Zion National Park in our traveler’s hearts. Kevin proposed to me at Zion back in 2013, so we may call that our favorite park. One of our goals as future nomads, is to visit all 58 National Parks. If you have this goal as well, you may be interested in their 4 free days in 2018. This is a great way to get started. Free…

The previous owners of our RV left every single belonging they had still in it. Including a little friend in the basement. We are not the biggest fans of reptiles – at least not inside our home. Hope you find video this amusing!   Follow our journey! Facebook: https://facebook.com/fromparistoroam Instagram: https://instagram.com/fromparistoroam

A medical scare and a longing for financial freedom and travel made us sit down and re-evaluate our life and goals. We decided going mobile was the way to go. In April 2017, our dream of owning an RV came true. We purchased a 2008 Dutchmen Grand Junction 37QSL. This fifth wheel has 4 slide-outs and it’s a rear living model. We recorded some video from that time. A season of change and hope. You will see that we are a hot mess, literally, as it was a very hot and humid Florida day. We are silly and goofy, but these are moments we don’t want to forget. We will…
